Working with Sankalpa and Yoga Nidra

This workshops introduces you to Yoga Nidra and the power of Sankalpa.
Yoga Nidra is an ancient yoga practice which allows you to reach deep states of relaxation. It is equivalent to 3 hours sleep and is very beneficial in many ways. ‘Yoga will rejuvenate and revive the physical, mental and emotional personality’ Sure Ways to Self-Realisation by Swami Satyananda.

During the practice you will be asked to lie on your back on the floor or if you cant lie then you can sit in a chair. You will be given you verbal instructions for the entire session and all you have to do is listen without too much concentration but without falling asleep either. You will be asked to make a sankalpa, this is a positive affirmation sewn in your subconscious mind. You will be asked to take a journey around your body by feeling and repeating different body parts. For example the tutor will say ‘take your awareness to the right hand thumb and feel your thumb, then the first finger, second finger’ etc so you do an entire rotation around your body. You are then asked to focus on your breath and repeat your sankalpa again. This is the beginners version but it will develop as you become more familiar with it and when you are ready to move onto the next stage.
The Sankalpa is a powerful tool to transform ones life from the darkness to light, from sadness to happiness, from illness to wellness from sorrow to joy. This will be an opportunity for you to discover your sankalpa and to work with it during the yoga nidra practice.
During this workshop you will explore some simple chants, a few asanas to release any tensions, you will arrive at your personal sankalpa and explore the practice of yoga Nidra. You will also create your own personal stone painting with your secret sankalpa painting on it. You will be given some useful links to work with the practice at home in your own time.
